Waste as lost opportunity
Collected waste can become fuel for income. That is the heart of our calling.
Turning waste into energy
This waste is not just dirt. It is lost opportunity. What if this became fuel for income?
Practical green skills
Our young people learn at the press and the drying rack, in a real Kampala workshop.
From a sack of waste to a stove
We also make institutional cookstoves for schools and other institutions across Uganda.
Our origins
I am Calvin, the inventor and vision bearer of Youth Empowerment and Support Organisation. I started YESO in Kyebando, along Gayaza Road, Kampala, because I believe waste can become energy, income, and hope for young Ugandans.
We recover waste, carbonise what is suitable, and press alternative charcoal for homes and institutions. The same workshop is our training ground. Young people handle real tools, real material, and a product that must be dried, moved, and sold.
What we do
Suitable waste is collected instead of being left to pollute compounds, drains, and open ground.
Prepared material is carbonised and pressed into alternative charcoal for households and schools.
Young people learn sorting, processing, pressing, drying, and getting a product to a customer.
Every bag of alternative charcoal is meant to ease waste and the demand for wood charcoal.
How we are changing lives
These are the programmes we invite you to stand with. Your gift helps a young person learn, a sack of waste become fuel, and a household cook without cutting another tree.
How it works

We gather material that would otherwise stay in the community.

What can become fuel is separated and prepared by our team.

Prepared waste is carbonised, bound, and pressed into briquettes.

Finished perforated briquettes, ready for homes and institutions.

We deliver at a little cost. Contact us and we will bring the charcoal to you.

Households, schools, and institutions cook with what we make.
From the founder
This waste is not just dirt. It is lost opportunity. What if this became fuel for income? That question is why I built YESO.

National and global goals
We welcome government teams, NGOs, and companies as founding partners. Walk with us as we grow this work.
We would love to hear from you
You are not just a visitor. Call, write, or send the form. You will find us in Kyebando, along Gayaza Road, Kampala.
Why Youth Empowerment and Support Organisation?
You will find us at the press, the drying rack, and the delivery truck. This is real work in Kyebando, led by young Ugandans.
Every sack of waste recovered, briquette pressed, or stove built is meant to ease charcoal demand and give a young person a skill.
